Bextra's Safety Questioned

Sciatique SOS Pdf An increasing number of Americans are relieved to learn there are non-drug ways to ease pain now that safety questions have been raised about another well-known and widely used painkiller, Bextra. Recent meetings of the FDA were preceded by a petition from a leading consumer group, Public Citizen, asking that the drug be taken off the market. Both the FDA and Public Citizen raised concerns about the safety of Bextra, one of the so-called Cox-2 inhibitors. The Cox-2 drugs Vioxx and Bextra were once viewed as “wonder drugs” for arthritis and painful menstrual cycles.

Bextra has moved into the spotlight while the maker of Vioxx is being investigated. Vioxx was one of the nation’s most popular ways to treat pain and arthritis and was taken by an estimated 20 million people before it was withdrawn from the market. That happened after studies linked it to a heightened risk of heart attack and stroke – information that may not have been fully understood when the drugs received FDA approval. Researchers released information indicating that the chances for heart attack following prolonged use of Vioxx were four times greater than with older over-the-counter pain relievers. It has also been linked to angina and stroke. A University of Pennsylvania study released at a meeting of the American Cardiology Association indicated that those taking Bextra had a 2.19 times greater chance of heart attack, stroke, sudden death and Stevens Johnson Syndrome, a life threatening disorder in which blisters occur on the patient’s body.

Don't Ruin Your Summer Fun

Biotic Balance Probiotic Review I love summer! Summer is my favorite season of the year. I love playing sports outside and walking on the beach. I especially enjoy being at an outdoor barbecue. Maybe you enjoy summer activities as well. Imagine with me for a moment being at an outdoor barbecue. Just a little distance away from you there's a swimming pool full of kids who are having fun playing, laughing and splashing in the water. In another spot there might be a horseshoe game playing. You can hear the "clank" of the horseshoes hitting the posts as the players are trying to get a ringer. And of course there's the barbecue grill. On the grill might be hamburgers and hot dogs, chicken or steaks. The only thing better than the smell coming from the grill is the taste of the food when it's time to eat. Can you just imagine the fun that you will have this summer?

Now fast forward with me a few hours. You are at home and your skin is starting to itch. Just before bedtime you're taking your shirt or blouse off to get into your bed clothes and just the material rubbing up against your skin is painful. When you do go to bed that evening you toss and turn trying to get into a position that isn't painful so that you can go to sleep. However, you spend hours awake only thinking about the pain that your body is experiencing instead of the tremendous fun you had that day. What is the reason for this itching and pain? You have probably guessed it. You have a sunburn!

An Introduction to Shiatsu

Biotic Balance Probiotic Review Shiatsu originated in China at least 2000 years ago, when the the earliest accounts gave the causes of ailments and the remedies that could be effected through a change of diet and the way of life. The use of massage and acupuncture was also recommended. The Japanese also were practitioners of this massage after it had been introduced into that country and it was known as anma. The therapy that is known today as shiatsu has evolved with time from anma under influences from both the East and the West. It is only recently that it has gained full recognition and popularity, with people becoming aware of its existence and its benefits.

Although East and West have different viewpoints on health and life these can complement each other. The Eastern belief is of a primary flow of energy throughout the body, which runs along certain channels that are known as meridians. It is also believed that this energy exists throughout the universe and that all living creatures are dependent upon it as much as on physical nourishment. The energy is known by three similar names, ki, chi and prana in Japan, China and India respectively. As in acupuncture, there are certain pressure points on the meridians that relate to certain organs and these points are known as tsubos.

Shiatsu can be used to treat a number of minor problems such as insomnia, headaches, anxiety and back pain. Western medicine may be unable to find a physical cause for a problem and although some pain relief may be provided, the underlying cause of the problem may not be cured. It is possible that one session of shiatsu may be sufficient to remedy the problem by stimulating the flow of energy along the channels. Implementing an exercise regime with a change of diet and lifestyle may also be recommended. Shiatsu can encourage a general feeling of good health in the whole person and not just in the physical sense.

Set Point Theory

Power4Patriots Review Researchers believe that each person has an internal control mechanism in the brain that maintains their weight at a constant level or set point. This weight regulating mechanism controls both the appetite and the amount of fat stored. It is believed that this mechanism operates in a manner similar to the way a thermostat controls the temperature in your house. The higher the set point, the greater the fat storage and overall body weight. If body weight decreases (as in dieting), the setpoint recognizes the change and triggers either an increase in the person's appetite or makes the body conserve energy to maintain the "set" weight. The body conserves energy by lowering the metabolic rate and by improving the food (fat) storing mechanisms.

Thus, when you diet, your weight-regulating mechanism sees your caloric restriction as a form of starvation, and its natural survival response is to improve energy storage as bodyfat, the very thing you are trying to prevent! Even though prolonged caloric restriction may temporarily lower weight and fat, the setpoint remains unchanged. When your eating habits return to normal the fat is quickly regained as the body strives to reach a comfortable fat level ( its set point). The may explain the difficulty many people have with "keeping the weight off" once they've lost it.

Research suggests that our set point can be improved through lifelong dedication to proper nutrition and sensible eating habits, combined with regular physical activity. Specifically, a long-term diet high in complex carbohydrates (breads, cereals, pasta and rice) seems to have a positive effect on lowering the set point, while regular continuous cardiovascular exercise also seems to lower the set point.

Cleaning Persian Rugs

Wholetones Music Review Cleaning Persian rugs requires care and attention. However, the whole rug doesn't get dirty simultaneously. Some portions require yearly cleaning, while you can leave other areas for years without cleaning. If the rug is small, you can clean it outside your house, preferably in your garage. You should wash the Persian rug on a bright sunny day so that it dries quickly. You can wash the rug with cool water or a rug shampoo. It's advisable to use a soft, longhaired brush while cleaning Persian rugs.

A Persian rug is definitely one of your biggest investments. So you need to take care of your rugs so that they don't lose their shine. Whenever you find a stain on your rug, you must promptly clean it up. You will be able to remove the stain easily if you take action immediately. You should always use a paper towel to remove the stain. As the rugs are gentle and soft, you shouldn't use too much pressure, or scrub them forcefully. You need to clean the Persian rugs with running water. Also, don't forget to squeeze out the additional water. Then you can lay the rugs outside your home to dry. Try to dry both sides of the rugs.

Also, you should be extremely cautious while applying spot remover. Some spot removers are so harsh that they can get rid of the color of your rugs altogether. So while cleaning Persian rugs you should try the spot remover on a very small area. If the result is satisfactory, you can go ahead and use the spot remover for the entire rug. After all, you can't afford to damage your rugs. If you find cleaning Persian rugs too complicated, you can get help from the rug dealers. The dealers have professional rug-cleaning teams. They will take care of cleaning your Persian rugs.

Yes It Can Be Cured

Biotic Balance Probiotic Review There are over 100 types of arthritis. It is a disease that limits everyday movements such as walking, standing or holding onto a key and trying to open a door. The effects of arthritis range from slight pain, stiffness, and joint swelling, to crippling discomfort. Osteoarthritis is the most prevalent form of arthritis. An estimated 20.7 million Americans are affected by this disease.

According to Dr. Hulda Clark “…in osteoarthritis the joints have bacteria living in the deposits left there… More research is necessary to explain this. My suspicion is that there are toxins, like mercury, thallium, cadmium, lead, as well as solvents, distributed through the body, lowering immunity and allowing the tiny larvae to reside there. Once the pathway (routing) to these organs has been established, it continues to be used by other parasites as well. Soon a variety of parasites, their bacteria and viruses, and pollutants are all headed toward these organs”.

Osteoarthritis causes the breakdown of cartilage which is what protects the ends of bones from rubbing against each other. As the disease gets worse, along with the loss of cartilage bone spurs and abnormal bone hardening will develop, and create severe pain as there is no more cushioning for the bones. As a result, bones become more brittle and susceptible to fractures.

Lawn Mower Racing

EZ Battery Reconditioning Review The mower racing is becoming a regular sport. Local newspapers report the results, sponsors are looking for the best racer in order to get the first position in the next local or even state race. Races draw thousands of fans due to the fact that a lot of lawnmower racing races have been scheduled from town to town. There are no purses and typically no betting in terms of mowers racing. Therefore, they have no desire for lucre, it is only a hobby to work and enjoy. We can say that it is only for the glory. Most of the machines which work in these races are long-retired ones that racers rebuild for racing.

On the other hand, we must say that there exists different levels of classification; from stock racers that still cut grass, or mowers without blades, which have been removed, to factory experimental mowers on which the platforms intended to cover the blades are strictly decorative. This is the grass roots of mower sport, lawn mower racing started here. Mowers are defined as run-behind mowers, and it is easy to understand, what you see is what you get. The only thing that you need is to acquire an old petrol engined cylinder driven mower and race it.

This group is split into 2 main groups for roller and wheel driven mowers. Those mower's types have a lot of similarities to race. The wheel driven mowers tend to be heavier and wider but offer better traction in slipper conditions. By far this is the most popular group at the moment. Lawn mowers are always wheel driven machines with the rider sat on the machine. This also tends to be the fastest group with mowers capable of reaching speeds up to 40mph.
This group was introduced for 2002, and is described in the Rules & Regulations as a small bonneted tractor, which effectively opens this class up to a wide range of mowers. Drivers in this class should be able to compete against Group 3 machines.
